They who know have returned.

The inspiration for the work was derived from several sources: the traditional European masks, the documentation
of the first Antarctic expedition, early science fiction novels and mass media reports on the catastrophic effects of
the climate change. In these diverse narratives, the unifying factor is the individual who seeks to find out, under-
stand, reconcile, and live with the unknown and the unfavorable. Courage, foolishness and necessity drive the
individual who inevitably changes when the unknown becomes known.

The photographs are of terra-cotta portraits of an imaginary crew of explorers who know what lays ahead for the
    human race.
