While making this work, we interviewed 12 scientists about their research, its influence on their fellow wo/men and their own world views. We concluded all interviews with the question, "What is the meaning of life?' The scientists of mentioned the significance of cooperation and pluralism. Many of them emphasized the role of an open mind and ability to accept the limitations of their own cognitive processes. Hence the piece consists not of the answers given by the scientists but of the sounds of their thinking. We edited the recordings leaving just the “thinking sounds” (ummm’s, eh’s, laughter, sighs etc.). These were arranged into a 6 minute song, each scientist performing in their own speaker.
